Goodview Baptist Men's Fellowship

Hebrews 10:25 "Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing,
but let us encourage one another, all the more, as you see the Day approaching."

The Men of Goodview Baptist Church have been meeting every month since 1998. As has always been the custom at Goodview, it started out, with food - (egg sandwich from Goodview Grocery) and a lot of fun fellowship of men jawing with each other about college sports, hunting, or cars. After the meal and when the macho talk was over, we would meet with the Lord and discuss the things that He would want us to discuss. The Lord doesn't care much about sports, hunting, or cars, unless He wants to use those things to draw men to the house of the Lord to worship and work together. We still do those same things every second Saturday of the month from 7:30 to 9:00 am. The Breakfast food has gotten a lot better, in that the five different cooking teams are always trying to upstage the previous month's cooking team. The cost is still a buck or two and we still can't agree on which sports team is best or stop teasing each other with who has the best hunting or fishing story.  As the Lord promised, He has always been with us, with His encouragement and guidance in the projects and activities He would have us do.

Our Stated Objective is:" For the men of the Goodview Baptist to have regular informal gatherings for worship of the Lord, fellowship with one another, developing hands-on leadership training and having activities to serve His Church and community."

Membership is open to all men and their sons (not just church members). 

Some of the activities we have undertaken in the past are:

• Breakfast prepared by the cook team of the month.

• Worship / Fellowship around table – devotional speaker from within the fellowship

• Conducting /sponsor men's spiritual / development studies.

• Local Mission / outreach projects or activity- i.e. fire wood ministry to community, assist church membership with medical / hardship needs, wood ramp building for handicapped, assist with annual church wide clean- up efforts.

• Assist church staff and trustees with minor construction /maintenance projects.

• Additional fellowship activities have included sponsoring church wide activities making Apple butter, having men's fish fry and or BBQ pig roast and the annual Car Show, family river floats, fishing tournament and road trips.
